The majority of houses are provided with standard size wheeled bins, 240 litre size.
However there are exceptions to this rule;
- Small single occupancy properties may have 120/140 litre bins because of the quantity of refuse produced and/or the available storage space for bins.
- Some large households may be issued with a large 360 litre bin
- A few properties in the Borough are still on black sack collections. This is usually due to access issues either for a vehicle or for personnel
There is a Alternate Weekly Collection system in place so all residents have 3 bins, a black/grey one, a blue one and a green one. These are normally the same size and are collected on alternate weeks.
Most flats are provided with large communal bins and recycling bins .
Developers should consider the amount of storage space required for the appropriate containers when designing/ planning domestic residence. For more information download the leaflet;
