Pay by post
Cheques and postal orders should be crossed and made payable to: Chesterfield Borough Council
Send your cheque or postal order to:

Please ensure that you write the name of the council tax payer, together with their address and billing number on the back of the cheque.
Post-dated cheques will not be accepted. Please do not send cash through the post.
Pay by standing order
Please obtain a standing order form from your bank and complete it with the council's bank account details as follows:

You must also quote your account reference.
On a transcash voucher available from any Post Office. The payer will be required to pay an inpayment fee to the Post Office. The voucher must show the taxpayer's full name, address, billing number and the Chesterfield Borough Council Giro Account Number 409 6711
Please note that when paying by standing order or post office giro, a minimum of four clear working days should be allowed for transmission delays.
Barcodes on bills
Barcodes can be used at post offices and any pay point outlet, as well as electronic payment machines. See a list of pay point outlets.
Council Tax is usually payable over 10 monthly instalments (if issued for the full financial year); or the number of whole months left in the financial year less one (if issued during the financial year). With effect from 1 April 2013 customers can request to pay their Council Tax over the whole 12 months of the financial year up to and including March.
