The council manages approximately 10,000 houses, flats, maisonettes and garages in Chesterfield. Find out more by reading the frequently asked questions below.

1. Is there a long waiting list for council properties?

There is a high demand for both housing and garages, but for housing in particular.

In some areas of the town, there is a greater availability of some types of property. This housing may be available to people who are on our housing register, but who do not have a high level of need. 2. How do I find out about available properties?

When properties do become available to let, they are advertised on the council's on the move website (opens in new window). They are then allocated in accordance with our policy.

3. How do I join the council's housing register?

To join the council's housing register, you must complete a housing application form.
