In June 2013, Chesterfield Borough Council teamed up with the Community Sports Trust to bring more sporting opportunities to the people of Chesterfield. Working with partners, we plan to deliver projects from grassroot level with local community organizations, to build a strong sporting structure and opportunities for all.
Leo Shippam, Chesterfield’s Community Sports Activator, is working with local partners to build communities where people of all ages take part in sport and recreation opportunities and where communities have a sustainable sports infrastructure, with high quality volunteers, coaches and leaders.
‘There are many benefits of physical activity and all are long lasting and promote better health and wellbeing. There has been a great response to the work already done in Chesterfield by community associations and sports clubs across the borough and I aim to spread this success across all areas of Chesterfield.
