Chesterfield Borough Council is engaged with several projects across the Sheffield City Region (SCR) that are designed to help businesses find the right employees and also to help people who are out of work find the right employment.
Skills Made Easy provides an Apprenticeship and Skills Hub that will provide an end to end service for employers to:
- address the skills gaps identified by employers
- deliver 4,000 additional apprenticeship places and achievements
- deliver 2,000 additional up-skilled employees
The hub offers impartial advice to eligible businesses and aims to support businesses meet their objectives through workforce and succession planning.
The Big Lottery has launched its Talent Match programme, £100 million of funding to help young people find work or start their own business. Chesterfield is part of a wider bid for Sheffield City Region that is being led by Sheffield Futures. Big Lottery has allocated £8.6 million of funding for the SCR to create a portfolio of activities to help young people find work over five years. The activities that will be created as part of Talent Match are:
- Talent Match coaches
- wage subsidy scheme
- enterprise creation
- peer mentoring
A pre-qualification questionnaire is currently available on www.yortender.co.uk (closing date 7 October 2013) and the PQQ allows interested parties to select which element of the activities that they would be interested in bidding for.
