Ants
If you find ants indoors you can quite often be able to deal with the problem yourself.
Where possible find the site of the nest or the entrances to it by watching the activities of the ants. Once found it should not be too difficult to treat by using a suitable crawling insect! ant powder applied liberally to the entrance. These can be obtained fairly cheaply from garden centres, DIY stores etc. The new ant bait boxes now appearing on the market may also be effective.
ALWAYS READ THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LABEL AND FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY.
If the nest or entrance cannot be found or is difficult to get to, then put the powder where the ants seem busiest. This should mean that the workers will carry the powder back to the nest. PLEASE REMEMBER that powders do not have an immediate “knockdown” effect and it may be some time before control is achieved.
Should you be unable to deal with the problem yourself you can call on the Council’s Pest Control service for help.
