Sustainable Community Grants
The Sustainable Community Fund is a scheme run by the Council where money is awarded to projects that are run by the local community for the local community.
The Council can offer financial support of up to £1,000 to projects run by non-profit organisations such as schools, youth groups, voluntary groups, tenants and residents associations or community groups within the Borough boundaries.
The Sustainable Community Fund supports projects that improve local people’s quality of life and the local environment. There is no typical type of project that the council will fund - it’s up to you. Your project must, however address at least one of the following issues:

The Council is willing to consider all manner of projects, but to help you get an idea, here are some examples of projects that would fulfil our requirements

Local action to implement a one-off national event, for example Car-Free Day or Energy Saving Week

A project to provide easier access to allotments for all members of the community

Creating a community orchard

A project to recycle tins of paint

A project to collect and store rainwater for use on community gardens and allotments.
REMEMBER:
Your project must be run by the local community and for the local community, to qualify for funding.
