Art and Exhibitions

The museum and art gallery explores the town's rich historical heritage. As well as the programme of exhibitions, the 'Story of Chesterfield'  is taken as its theme and shows how the town has become the place it is today.

We are proud to support a scheme to bring art and sculpture to a wide audience of people. Details of our Art Trail can be found on the website (http://www.chesterfieldarttrail.co.uk)

Chesterfield Borough Council also provides funding to promote arts in the area. See Artsderbyshire (http://www.artsderbyshire.org.uk/) to find out what is going on in the area. You can use the site to find out about what events and activities are taking place, what groups exist and where to find about training, funding and jobs. As an artist or an arts organisation, this is your chance to make information about you and your artistic work available through our free searchable online directory.

Theatre

The stage at the Pomegranate TheatreThe Pomegranate and Winding Wheel theatres are both grade 2 listed buildings. The Pomegranate is a Victorian 546 seater proscenium arch theatre offering a wide range of professional touring and local amateur productions. The Winding Wheel was restored in the late 1980's by Chesterfield Borough Council to provide a much needed multi purpose venue. Both venues have packed programmes of music, comedy and drama.
