We’re celebrating 10 fantastic years of Queen’s Park Sports Centre, and you’re invited to join us for a special open day on Sunday 11 January 2026.
Enjoy a full day of activities, exclusive membership offers, prizes, and information stations throughout the centre. Bring the whole family and get involved in taster sessions, classes, and fun events for all ages.
Throughout the day we will have activity information stations around the centre so you can find out more about the facilities we have and what we offer including swimming lessons, gymnastics, fitness classes, racket sports and much more.
Take part in our treasure hunt, with hidden prizes scattered all around the building. From free swims to free memberships, you never know what you might discover.

What's on
Pre-school gymnastics
Sessions available for children up to the age of 5 years old in our tumblers sessions.
These classes include games, gentle stretching and gym equipment to support motor skills, coordination, balance, flexibility, and confidence. All sessions involve parent participation.
Sessions will run at the following times and cost £1 per child
- 9:00am to 9:45am: Tumblers ages 2 to 3
- 9:45am to 10:30am: Tumblers ages 3+
- 10:30am to 11:15am: Tumblers ages 3+
- 11:15am to 12:00noon: Tiny Tumblers aged under 3
Sessions are bookable via reception from 19 December.
Racket sports
From 11.30am our courts will be available for family badminton, grab your racket and shuttlecock for a free 30-minute game.
Then from 1pm why not come and try out pickleball? The latest rackets game at our centre.
We have equipment to hire so bring the family down for a game.
Courts available until 4.30pm.
Courts can be booked via reception or online from 2 January.
Netball
At 2pm, the coaches from Queen’s Park Netball club will be offering a free family netball taster.
It’s open to ages 8+ and any abilities. Netball is a great way to try out a new sport at our centre where sessions are usually held weekend for adults and juniors.
This session can be booked via reception or online from 2 January.
Fitness classes
We have a fun packed day of fitness classes planned, which again, are all free of charge.

- 10:30am Rockbox
- 11:30am Legs, Bums, Tums
- 12:15pm Aquacise (pool)
- 12:30pm Fitball (optional fancy dress)
- 2:30pm Yoga
- 6:00pm Body Pump
All fitness classes can be booked via reception or online from 22 December.
Pool
In our small pool, after our normal swimming lessons end, we have an aquacise class taking place at 12.15pm followed by swimming lesson taster sessions. These include lessons such as ducklings (parent and toddler), stage 1 and 2.
In our main pool, we have tasters for our adults beginners and improvers lessons, and our Rookie 1 lifesaving class.
Full details of swimming lessons can be found below, and cost £1 per child.
In the afternoon, both pools will host a family splash session from 2.45pm to 3.45pm where you’ll find toys, floats and sinkers to enjoy. The session is aimed at families, although children aged 8+ can attend unaccompanied as long as they are able to competently swim at least 50m in the pool.
The session is chargeable at the standard swimming price and is not included as part of the Active Fitness membership.
Swimming lessons schedule
- 10am: Adult beginners (main pool)
- 10:30am: Adult improvers (main pool)
- 1pm: Ducklings 3 to 12 months
- 1pm: Ducklings 12 to 24 months
- 1pm: Stage 2
- 1pm: Rookie 1 (main pool)
- 1:30pm: Ducklings 24 to 36 months
- 1:30pm: Stage 1
- 1:30pm: Stage 2
- 1:30pm: Rookie 1 (main pool)
- 2pm: Ducklings 3 to 4 years
- 2pm: Ducklings 12 to 24 months
- 2pm: Stage 1
Rookie sessions teach children to be safe in the water through; self-rescue, survival rescue and lifesaving sport skills. Lessons are suitable for children aged 8 to 12 years old in stages 6 and above and must be able to swim at least 25m in clothing.
All duckling lessons require one adult to be in the pool with the child at all times.
Introduce your baby to the water an early age and by assisting them to the session you too can gain valuable skills and be reassured as they gain confidence.
Stage 1 and 2, beginners ideal for aged 4+
Swimming lessons can be booked via reception from 17 December.
Family splash bookable via reception from 29 December.
Gym
Upstairs in our gym, the fitness team will be on hand to show you around our facilities, talk to you about our equipment and provide inductions for anyone taking out a membership on the day.
