This is an exciting opportunity to join our small Democratic and Scrutiny team, providing an essential high-profile service to Chesterfield Borough Council and its residents.

In this role you will be working closely with all elected members, providing confidential secretarial and administrative support to a high standard.

You will also provide personal assistant support to the Leader, Deputy Leader and Mayor which will include diary management, communicating with members of the public, community groups and schools to arrange mayoral engagements, managing confidential correspondence, arranging meetings, supervising the Mayor’s Chauffeurs and assisting with speech writing.

You will also be involved in organising and delivering our annual civic events programme including the Remembrance Sunday parade, Civic Parade and annual Civic Dinner.

These are high profile events for the Council and will require previous experience of project management and skills in managing risks and resources.

Every year the Council welcomes several primary schools from across the Borough to the Town Hall as part of our local democracy engagement programme.

You will have the opportunity to get involved in organising and delivering our programme which includes providing assistance to elected members and the Mayor, and leading in the local democracy activities.

Due to the contact with senior leadership, elected members and the public, this is a politically restricted role which requires excellent communication skills and political awareness as well as the ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.

As part of the Policy and Communications team, we also undertake cross-team working on key projects throughout the year which will develop new skills and enhance your experience by contributing to community engagement, member development and local democracy.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive who will primarily have conduct of contract transactions for the Council.

We are in the enviable position of being able to offer a very diverse and interesting caseload of contract work to the successful candidate.

This ranges from the purchases of goods and services, for the maintenance delivery Council Services, to preparing contracts for refurbishment or development projects including regeneration schemes.

Further the Council in implementing an ambitious IT improvement programme and the team is providing an important role in supporting this programme, giving essential procurement advice and dealing with the preparation, approval and conclusion of contract documentation for this new area of work.

The post holder will be required to deliver quality advice and drafting in relation to public procurement and contract matters, and ideally will have established practical experience of handling these areas of work with proven competency in advising clients on tenders/procurement processes. This will include application of the procurement regulations and give advice of the Councils own contract procedure rules. Experience of appointments off framework agreements including G Cloud and CCS would be advantageous

Sound commercial awareness, excellent communication skills a dynamic and innovative approach to the delivery of a highquality legal service, combined with the ability to fit into a small and friendly team would be ideal qualities to successfully undertake this role.

Chesterfield Borough Council is looking for an Assistant Premises Manager for Chesterfield Venues.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the day to day management of the Venues (the Pomegranate Theatre, the Winding Wheel Theatre, Hasland Village Hall and the Rest Rooms) is carried out to an excellent standard and ensuring that all venues comply with all health & safety & licensing requirements.

You will ensure that all secondary sales income from events at the venues are maximised, including bar, catering, and merchandise.

The Venues operate 7 days a week including some Bank Holidays; consequently a flexible approach to working hours is essential.

The successful post holder will have good communication skills, and the ability to work on his or her own initiative, utilising excellent management skills and the ability to deal with confrontation.

It’s an exciting time to join Chesterfield Borough Council - we are undertaking a Digital Transformation Programme. The ICT improvement programme is a £9.7million, nine-year programme of improvement and digital innovation work.

We are transforming our services by:

The programme is made up of many different parts, so we have grouped them into four themes:

The Project Support Officer role is a key position within the ICT Digital Innovation team.

The successful candidate will have experience of working on digital projects which involve both implementing ICT systems and wider transformation around service redesign. Reporting to the Digital Programme Manager, they will play a key role in documenting and managing various work streams within the programme.

 You will:

  • Document project actions, risks, issues and dependencies and report accordingly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis with the support of the existing team
  • Develop potential business cases for new technology
  • Support a wide range of different service areas during the implementation of the Salesforce digital platform, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Provide training, coaching and support to operational teams and management throughout the transformation process.
  • Assist with a review of current project management tools and documentation, including the use of Microsoft Teams as a task tracker.
  • Support Project Managers and Business Analysts as required, including arranging workshops and meetings and taking minutes where applicable.
