It’s that time of year again… thousands of people flocked to our town centre yesterday (Sunday 19 November) for the annual Christmas lights switch-on event. This year, the event was bigger and better than ever.
The fun got underway from noon with a special market offering entertainment, stalls, games and rides in the market place.
Youngsters also had the chance to meet one of their favourite cartoon characters: Chase from Channel 5 children’s show Paw Patrol who appeared outside Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre.
Chesterfield Market Hall was also be open during the day with selected traders open including Chesterfield Market Café offering people the chance to have a break with a hot drink and a snack in the midst of all the festivities.
Santa also took up residence in his grotto on the mezzanine floor of the Market Hall.
The big Christmas lights stage show got underway at 3.30pm with Peak FM providing the entertainment as breakfast show presenters Ricky, Cat take to the stage offering opportunities for the audience to join in the fun.
Stars from the Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan, this year’s pantomime at the Pomegranate Theatre performed on stage before the switch on at 4.45pm with our mayor, panto stars and Chase from Paw Patrol.
