Taxi Driver Support Grant

Licensed taxi drivers in Chesterfield could claim a discretionary one-off payment of £500 to help them during the current restrictions.

Who can claim

You can claim the Taxi Driver Support Grant from us if you:

  • work in the Chesterfield Borough Council area
  • hold a valid taxi, private hire or contract driver's licence issued by Chesterfield Borough Council before 1 January 2021
  • were trading at 4 November 2020 and have suffered a loss of income due to government restrictions

You are not entitled to claim this payment if your licence has lapsed, has been suspended, or has been revoked.


Drivers that are not eligible

You will not be eligible for this scheme if:

  • you are insolvent
  • your licence is subject to a review by the Appeals and Regulatory Committee

Information you will need

You will need the following information to claim:

Taxi, private hire or contract driver's licence number - this begins with C, CD, HC or PH followed by some numbers

Proof of bank account - You must provide a recent bank statement that confirms the details for your nominated account.

You will need to upload electronic copies, scanned images or clear photos of either your electronic bank statements or screenshots of online banking.

If you don't provide your bank statement we WON'T be able to process your claim.

What happens next?

If your application is successful the payment will be made directly into the bank account you have provided details for.

We will notify you by email whether your application has been successful or not.

You must declare any payments you receive as part of your tax return.
