First World War centenary events
November 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The Armistice ending the conflict, which had lasted more than four years, was signed at 11am on 11 November 1918.
To mark this special anniversary, we are working with partners and community groups to organise and promote events throughout the year.
Commemorations will also include a series of events in Chesterfield and the surrounding areas during October and November, and will feature a mixture of remembrance services, live theatre, screenings, talks an interactive trench experience at Chesterfield Museum and a poppy cascade at Chesterfield Town Hall featuring poppies knitted and crocheted by residents and friends of Chesterfield.
Below are details of events being held in the area throughout the year, click on an item to find out more or go to our events calendar to see all our commemorative events in date order.
