Chesterfield FC football programme versus West Ham (1948)

To celebrate the upcoming UEFA Champions League final, June’s Object of the Month is a little piece of footballing history – a programme from the August 1948 game between Chesterfield FC and West Ham.

Originally established in 1866, Chesterfield Football Club, also known as the Spireites (a reference to Chesterfield’s most famous landmark), is currently sponsored by Technique learning and resides at the Technique Stadium in Whittington Moor.

The game held on Saturday 28th August 1948 was attended by over 16,000 spectators in total and ended in a 0-0 result.

The programme boats the former Chesterfield FC crest which was replaced in 1997 and then again with the current design in 2009.
