VE Day - Life as a World War Two Soldier

Celebrate VE Day with Chesterfield Museum

Although our original VE Day ‘Meet a World War Two Soldier’ event had to be cancelled we still wanted to mark VE Day in some way. History’s Maid have been able to adapt the event they were due to run at the museum so that we can deliver it as a virtual event.

Chesterfield Museum will therefore celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day with a series of videos which look at what it was like to be a soldier on the front line in the run up to Victory in Europe in May 1945.

We will post different video clips throughout the week at 11.00am so that you can learn all about the uniforms soldiers wore, what they carried in their kit, the weapons they used and finally the glorious arrival of VE Day when the German's surrendered and there was ‘Victory in Europe’.

Why not have a go at some more World War Two themed activities as we mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day
