Enjoy the Chesterfield Area on foot combining a walk with a boat trip along Chesterfield Canal, or discover George Stephenson's connection with Chesterfield with a walk and a talk from George himself at Chesterfield Museum.
If you're looking for a challenge, try the Chesterfield Round Walk, a 34 mile trek through the countryside that surrounds the town. If that sounds all too much take an evening stroll of 5 or 6 miles, a short walk around the town or a family ramble of 2 or 3 miles.
With lots of walks to choose from there's got to be one that suits you whether it's a taste of the history of the area on the Revolting Peasants walk, ambling around some of our nature reserves including the Avenue Washlands or Norbriggs Flash, and finding out why Chesterfield has so many black and white buildings. Try out Nordic Walking or finish off with beer tasting at Brampton Brewery.
Enjoy the stunning Derbyshire countryside – Ogston reservoir, woods carpeted in bluebells, river valleys and panoramic views from the highpoints. See some of our great houses and halls including Hardwick and Renishaw.
Most walks are free so there's no excuse not to join us. All are led by a fully trained guide who knows the history, wildlife and the best countryside to walk through (as well as the best pubs to visit) in the beautiful Chesterfield landscape.
