Chesterfield pays its respects to Manchester terror victims

Chesterfield came together today to pay its respects to the victims of Monday's terror attack in Manchester.

Residents joined council staff and councillors on the steps of the Town Hall, Rose Hill at 11am to take part in a national one minute's silence in memory of those killed or injured in the attack at Manchester Arena which left 22 people dead and 59 people injured.

The silence was also held in other council venues including: Market Hall, Customer Service Centre, Queen's Park Sports Centre, the Healthy Living Centre, On the Move, Pavements Shopping Centre, Chesterfield Theatres, Visitor Information Centre and Stonegravels depot.

People can also pay their respects by signing a book of condolence in the Customer Service Centre in New Square.

The Customer Service Centre is open:

  • 8.30am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
  • 10am to 5pm on Wednesday
  • 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday
  • 9am to midday on Saturdays for payments only.
