Coronation Street's Kym Marsh is urging Chesterfield residents to make the most of the facilities on offer at the new Queen's Park Sports Centre.
The star, who plays Michelle McDonald in the ITV soap, visited the new Chesterfield Borough Council run sports centre on Saturday 9 January.
She is a keen gym user and co-leads fitness classes.
When visiting the new 80 station gym, Kym commented: "Gyms vary so much but this one has got everything from cardio equipment such as treadmills and steppers to weights.
"There is pretty much everything you could possibly want."
Kym's views echo those of Sport England property director, Charles Johnston, who said: "Having the right sports facilities in the right areas are fundamental in offering more people to take part in sport and leisure activities.
"This is why we have invested National Lottery money in the new Queen's Park Sports Centre to provide outstanding facilities which will encourage more people to take up sport and ensure they receive a quality experience."
Kym also met fans and took part in a high-intensity fitness class.
Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council's cabinet member for town centre and visitor economy, said: "Encouraging people to take up sport and fitness is a key priority for the council and has been something that Kym has also been interested for some time so it was good to meet her and show her around our new sports centre.
"I’m very proud that she was pleased with the facilities we have on offer and I hope this will encourage more people to come along and use the centre."
