It is with sadness we report the death of former borough councillor Terry Hawkins.
Mr Hawkins served as Labour councillor for Newbold from 1970 to 1974 and 1979 to 1991. He also served as a councillor from 1961 to 1967.
During his time in office he serves as chairman of the council’s recreation and leisure committee.
Some of the achievements during his time in office include: the opening of the miniature train in Queen’s Park, the opening of Holmebrook Valley Park, the opening of the Winding Wheel and the renaming of the Pomegranate Theatre.
Mr Hawkins’s funeral will take place at Newbold Parish Church on Wednesday 12 October at 3pm. Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome in aid of Diabetes UK and the Stroke Association.
