Shoppers who have left their Christmas shopping until the last minute need look no further than Chesterfield market.
The market, operated by Chesterfield Borough Council, is holding a special evening market on Wednesday 21 December from 3pm to 7pm to allow people to shop for gifts and last minute Christmas essentials.
To hire a stall for the event will cost £5 between 3pm and 7pm or £10 from 10am to 7pm.
Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for town centre and visitor economy, said, “We all know the feeling when it gets close to Christmas, that there’s some last minute food shopping or presents to buy. We’ve also heard from lots of people who would like to visit the market but cannot make it because of their work.
“Chesterfield market has a great selection of food and presents and has a great atmosphere so the evening market is a great opportunity for more people to join us and shop local.”
Chesterfield borough residents can also park for free after 3pm in the following council-run off-street car parks:
- Albion Road
- Derbyshire Times
- Devonshire Street
- Durrant Road
- Hollis Lane
- Holywell Cross
- Queen’s Park (North and South)
- Spa Lane
- Station Road
- St Mary’s Gate
- Theatre Lane
- West Street.
The evening market is part of the council’s commitment to the Healthy High Streets campaign with a market each day from Thursday 8 December until Christmas Eve, Saturday 24 December including the monthly farmers’ market on Thursday 8 December and the weekly flea market each Thursday as well as a Christmas special Chesterfield artisan market on Sunday 18 December.
