A new memorial for families who have lost children is to be unveiled at Chesterfield and District Crematorium.
The memorial is in the Never Land Baby Garden at the crematorium, on Chesterfield Road in Brimington and is in the form of a monument of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.
The unveiling will take place on Wednesday 5 August at 7pm. There will be a balloon release and candle lighting. People are asked to bring their own balloon. The event is open to everyone.
The new memorial has been provided by Chesterfield SANDS, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.
Donations have been provided by organisations including the Chesterfield and District Joint Crematorium Committee – which manages the crematorium on behalf of Bolsover District Council, Chesterfield Borough Council and North East Derbyshire District Council – from Sainsbury's and Hasland Junior School.
Nicky Whelan, chair of Chesterfield SANDS, said: "Thanks to everyone who has taken part in fundraising, without them, we wouldn’t be able to provide the community with this new memorial.
"This will help a lot of bereaved families by giving them somewhere they can come to remember."
Families can adopt a plaque with the name of a child they have lost on the new memorial. For more details, contact the crematorium staff on 01246 345 888 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
