Families can go behind the scenes at Chesterfield and District Crematorium at an open day this weekend.
The event takes place at the crematorium on Chesterfield Road in Brimington on Sunday 26 June from 10.30am to noon.
There will be the opportunity for people to:
- Trace the final resting place of a loved one or ancestor
- Discuss the options available for the disposal of cremated remains
- Find out more about memorial schemes available at the crematorium to commemorate a loved one.
The event is followed by a service in the crematorium chapel at 1pm.
The service is for people who wish to remember a friend or relative but anyone wishing to attend is welcome.

Councillor Chris Ludlow, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: “Each year, Chesterfield and District Crematorium holds thousands of funeral services, the service of commemoration will give families the opportunity to come and remember their loved ones.
“There is also the opportunity to go behind the scenes to see how the crematorium works and to speak to our friendly and knowledgeable staff dispel any worries or myths about the cremation process.”
The crematorium is run by the Joint Chesterfield and District Crematorium partnership on behalf of Chesterfield Borough Council, Bolsover District Council and North East Derbyshire District Council.
