This morning (Wednesday 8 March) saw the demolition of the glass dome structure at the former Queen's Park Sports Centre on Boythorpe Road.
The centre closed in December 2015 when the new £11.25 million Queen's Park Sports Centre was opened on the site of Queen's Park Annexe.
At their meeting yesterday, members of the council's cabinet approved a feasibility study to provide detailed plans on installing 3G artificial sports pitches on the site. These could be used for a variety of different sports including: football, rugby, hockey and athletics.
This will be developed over the coming months.
