Young traders to take over Chesterfield market

Young people are being given the chance to experience life as market traders in a special event organised by Chesterfield Borough Council.

Young people from as young as five up to 22 can take a free stall at the market taking place in the market place on Sunday 29 May from 11am to 3pm. All young people under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for town centre and visitor economy said: “We are committed to the future of Chesterfield market and offering stalls for free to young people will allow them to find out more about the life of a market trader for themselves.

“They can sell second hand goods, their own stock or homemade gifts and products and our markets team will offer free, practical advice on running a market stall and we can even arrange for free advice from some of our most experienced traders.”

To book a stall at the event, you can book online or call Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre on (01246) 345777 or 345778.

The event takes place at the same time as the popular monthly artisan market in New Square which takes place in association with The Market Co.

The artisan market attracts some of the finest award-winning produce and gift items by local producers.
