If you are having difficulty paying your rent or mortgage payments and you believe your home is at risk, please contact the council’s homelessness prevention team for advice and assistance. Acting early gives us more time and options to help.
If you are concerned about making or falling behind with your mortgage payments, you should contact your mortgage lender straight away.
Your lender must treat you fairly and consider any requests you make to make changes to the way you pay your mortgage. The help and support section provides information on services that can help.
If you are a Chesterfield Borough Council tenant and are having problems paying your rent, our team are here to help.
If you live in a privately rented property and are concerned about rent arrears, speak to your landlord as soon as possible.

Derbyshire Law Centre have a specialist housing and homelessness team who offer advice and assistance on a range of topics, including rent and mortgage arrears. You can contact the team Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
