Reshaping our housing service 

We’ve recently made a number of changes to how our housing team works – with the aim of improving the services we deliver to you and your community.

Our aim is to create a more co-ordinated approach to the management and maintenance of our 9,000 council homes make sure we can deliver services to the standards you expect.

The new structure will give us more opportunities to engage with you on a regular basis, giving us the chance to get a better understanding the housing needs of residents in our borough.

 

What we want to achieve

We want to make sure we can always deliver excellent customer service to you and your neighbours.

We will develop strong working relationships with other key council services and external partners to make sure we can provide you with all the support you need.

 

Meet our new neighbourhood area teams

A key part of our new-look service is the launch of our ‘area neighbourhood teams’. These teams will be made up of dedicated officers who will be able to help you with a range of issues, including:

  • Support to claim the benefits you may be entitled to
  • Help to manage any debt you may have
  • Support to manage your tenancy
  • Support with anti-social behaviour
  • Support with estate issues such as fly tipping
  • Advice on your housing application and getting a property
  • Access to our Careline service.

 

Which area am I in?

  • North area:  Brimington, Highfields, Littlemoor, Newbold Moor, Old Whittington Pevensey, Peveril, Racecourse, Whittington Moor
  • South area: Birdholme, Boythorpe, Grangewood, Hady, Hasland, St Augustine's, Spital, Newland Dale / Stonegravels, Town Centre, Whitecotes
  • East area: Barrow Hill, Duckmanton, Hartington, Inkersall, Lowgates, Mastin Moor, Middlecroft, New Whittington, Poolsbrook, Staveley Town Centre
  • West area: Brampton, Dunston, Green Farm Close, Holme Hall, Newbold, Loundsley Green

 

What you can expect from us

We’re introducing new tenancy visits that will allow you to have an informal chat with a member of our team and let us know how you are getting on in your new home. It will also be your chance to let us know of any concerns you may have – regardless of how big or small they might be.

We will be proactive in responding to repair requests and making sure all our properties are in excellent condition.

We will make sure that you have all the support you need – this includes helping you with accessing benefits you might be entitled to, or putting you in touch with our partners who may be able to.

We’ll be proactive in making sure our estates and local communities are kept clean and in good condition.

Through partnership working with other agencies, we will be able to prevent tenants from facing homelessness.

We will carry out personal housing plans with you to make sure your home meets your needs and that you have all the support you need available.
