Community clean-ups

Neighbourhood Environmental Action Team (N.E.A.T)

Chesterfield Borough Council has created a special Neighbourhood Environmental Action Team (N.E.A.T) to carry out thorough clean-ups in areas across the borough.

The team is working with Housing Services to identify areas that need some special attention to ensure the borough continues looking its best as prioritised by the council and expected by its residents.

The team will pay attention to the normal street scene issues such as litter, graffiti and dog fouling but will also alert partners on other matters such as potholes and street signs.

The Big Tidy Up

Chesterfield Borough Council has joined forces with the charities CleanUp UK and Keep Britain Tidy to support residents who want to look after their local environment.

To take part, all you need to do is to gather together a few like-minded people and visit the Big Tidy Up to register your event or to find an event taking place in your area. To give people a helping hand, everyone who registers will receive a special clean-up kit including bin bags, tabards, badges and posters, plus top tips and guidance on carrying out your tidy up and safety advice.

Environmental Services has a stock of Big Tidy Up kits and litter pickers and bags. Please contact us to arrange for the loan of equipment and to arrange collection of the bagged litter. You should still register with The Big Tidy Up so that nationally we can keep track of how much rubbish is being collected by volunteers.

For more information, call 01246 345 735.
