Electric Vehicle Charging Points Survey

On-Street Residential Grant Scheme

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has invited local authorities, including Chesterfield Borough Council, to submit applications to the On-Street Residential Grant Scheme.

The scheme allows local authorities to apply for funding for on street electric vehicle charging points for residents, who do not currently have access to off street parking, so are currently unable to charge an electric vehicle. The funding available is for fast charging points, well suited to residential areas and suitable for overnight charging.
We know that Chesterfield residents are considering or have already started to make the switch to electric vehicles and by installing on-street charging points, we hope we will be able to support even more to the change benefitting both themselves through cost savings (fuel, maintenance, road tax, etc) and contributing to improved local, regional and national air quality standards. If successful, the project will contribute to reduced CO2 emissions.

Chesterfield Borough Council declared a Climate Emergency in July 2019 and in February 2020 launched an ambitious climate change action plan, which was developed in collaboration with a group of passionate local residents committed to working together for the benefit of the community and the environment. The plan includes investing in excess of £14 million over the next three years to enable Chesterfield Borough Council to become carbon neutral by 2030 and Chesterfield borough to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Electric vehicle charging points survey

The aim of this survey is to better understand current and future demand from Chesterfield residents for on-street charging infrastructure. It will help us to plan for new charging points and how likely they are to be used.

Results from this survey will be used as part of the council’s application for funding and will help demonstrate that there is sufficient demand for the charging points.

The survey should only take a few minutes to complete.

You have until Friday 30 October 2020 to take part.

Thank you for your time and interest.
