Derbyshire County Council has created three areas on the fringe of the town centre that comprise the Chesterfield residents parking scheme: Zone A, Zone B and Zone C.
Chesterfield Borough Council will no longer be sending out renewal notices for permits. Please note the renewal date in your diary for future reference.

Permit details for zones A, B and C
Permits are available to purchase from Chesterfield Borough Council. The council administers the scheme on behalf of Derbyshire County Council.
The cost of the permits and allocation are as follows.
- Residents permit: £35 per annum for the first permit
- Additional residents permits: £50 per annum per permit (no limit)
- Annual visitor permit: £13 per annum (limited to 1 per property). This is a flexible permit for any visitor to your property, therefore it does not need to registered to a particular vehicle.
- Visitor day permit: £3 per day (scratch cards – minimum purchase of 5 (£15), with a maximum of 25 per annum per property)
- Business permit: £70 per annum (limited to 1 per business within the Zone)
- Registered charities are eligible to apply for two free permits per annum
- Disabled residents may be eligible for a free residents permit, subject to a mobility assessment by Derbyshire social services. Telephone 01629 537 876 for an assessment.
Civil enforcement officers, under the direction of Chesterfield Borough Council, carry out the enforcement of parking restrictions within these zones.
a) Permits are issued subject to the conditions of the residents’ parking places scheme; valid for a period of 12 months and renewable annually.
b) The permit may only be used in the vehicle to which it relates and the scheme applies to passenger vehicles and motor cycles.
c) The permit is not transferable and will be invalid if altered, defaced or mutilated. A fee of £10 will be charged for lost or damaged permits or where a change of vehicle details is requested.
d) The permit is only valid for use in the zone for which it is issued.
e) Vehicles displaying a valid permit should be parked wholly within a Permit Holders Only Parking Place, parallel to the edge of the carriageway. The distance between the edge of the carriageway and the nearest wheel of the vehicle should not be more than 12 inches. Unless the parking place is in a one way street vehicles should be parked so that the left or near side of the vehicle is adjacent to the left-hand edge of the carriageway.
f) A Penalty Charge Notice of £70 may be issued to any vehicle parked in a Permit Holders Only Parking Place, not displaying a valid permit.
g) A Penalty Charge Notice may be issued to any vehicle parked in contravention of the parking regulations (permit holders are not exempt from complying with all other traffic regulations and traffic laws e.g. causing obstruction).
h) A Penalty Charge Notice of £70 may be issued to any vehicle parked in a space reserved for Disabled Drivers, not displaying a disabled badge.
i) Vehicles are parked entirely at owner's risk.
j) Blue Badge Holders: A valid Residents Permit, Annual Visitor Permit or Visitor Day Permit will need to be displayed to enable Blue Badge holders to park in a Permit Holders Only Parking Place. Blue Badge Holders may park elsewhere in accordance with the parking regulations in force at that time.
k) Surrender, Withdrawal and Validity of Permits: The permit should be surrendered or the council may withdraw a permit if any of the following occur:
- the permit holder ceases to be a resident
- the permit holder ceases to be the owner of the vehicle
- a duplicate permit is issued
- misuse of the permit may result in the withdrawal of the permit and the suspension of future applications
