Climbing 1 (Small)

The climbing wall

The climbing wall  is suitable for all ages and abilities. The wall has 17 lines, over 70 individual routes, all tope-roped and equipped with quick draws for lead climbing, four auto-belays, all on a variety of slabs, walls and overhangs. We also have a mixed route bouldering room.

Opening times

Monday to Friday: 7am to 10pm
Saturday: 9am to 7pm
Sunday:  9am to 8pm

Club sessions

Climbing booster
Suitable for all abilities and levels to help further develop your climbing skills; from
needing a belay partner to pushing grades or developing technique, this instructor
staffed session will offer all the support and guidance you require.
Session time: Tuesday 6.45 – 8.15 £9

£5.00 per session. Climbing wall saver (adult) 10 for the price of 8 £40.00

Kids climbing clubs

Our weekly climbing clubs provide a pathway for children and young people to learn to climb and get the most out of this exhilarating sport in a safe and structured
environment. All our clubs are led by fully qualified instructors who will help your child
learn the basics of climbing. With the help of our coaches your child’s movement,
balance, co-ordination, strength and confidence will improve and if continued will create
independent climbers into adulthood.

Koala club; for children age 5 and 6.

These sessions provide a great first step into the world of climbing in a fun, structured and safe environment for young children.
Sessions: Tuesday 4.30 - 5.30pm. Saturday 1.15 – 2.15pm. £4.95.
Parents/carers are asked to ensure that your child is settled in the session and to
remain in the centre.

Monkey club: for children age 7 to 12.

In these sessions children learn the basic skills
and techniques of climbing in a friendly instructor led environment. Areas covered
include: Safety issues, top-roping, bouldering and climbing techniques. To develop their climbing skills children are encouraged to participate in our in-house ‘Seven Summits’ skills scheme to gain their seven summit certificates.
Sessions: Monday and Friday: 4.30pm to 6pm. Saturday: 9.15am to 10.45am
£5.35 per session. Climbing wall saver: 10 for the price of 8 - £42.80

Chimp club: for young people age 12 to 17.

An opportunity to climb, develop and hone more advanced climbing skills in a supportive environment with other like-minded people. Club participants are also able to complete any of the seven summits not conquered in our in-house climbing scheme.
We also welcome young people new to climbing to this session.
Session times: Monday and Friday: 6.15pm to 8.15pm. Saturday: 11am to 1pm
£9 per session. Climbing wall saver; 10 for the price of 8 - £72

Taster sessions: age 7+
Tuesday: 5.45pm and Saturday: 1.30pm
Cost: £4.00

Climbing induction: age 18+ 
Wednesday; climbing induction assesment: 6-7pm. Induction course: 7.15-9.15pm.  £20 (includes climbing assessment)

We also run regular club sessions during all school holidays.

Use of the wall

To use the climbing wall independently users must be 14 years or over and have completed an induction and assessment course or completed the HLC reception based climbing competency photo quiz (pass mark is 100%).  Induction gives access to the climbing wall and equipment either on a pay as you climb basis or as part of our inclusive. 

Once successfully inducted users over the age 18 can also sign in up to two guests.

Use of chalk

To help reduce problems of loose chalk on the walls in the climbing and bouldering room we ask that climbers only use chalk balls to ensure the best enviroment for all users. Thank you for your help and co-operation.
