Tenant engagement - get involved, have a voice!
Get involved - have a voice!
Tenant engagement is about giving you a real say in how your housing service is run.
This means that you can be involved in making decisions that affect you, your home and your community.
Where appropriate, we consult our council housing tenants on:
- decisions we make that will affect their home or neighbourhood
- estate improvement projects
- how we monitor services and improvement plans
- how our services can be improved
We are keen to know what you think about the housing services we provide - we want to do things better, and you are the best people to tell us how to improve.
ChAT (Chesterfield Active Tenants) is a group of council housing tenants and leaseholders from across Chesterfield, who are involved in shaping our services.
ChAT members can choose from a wide range of ways to get involved such as taking part in focus groups, working groups and panels, completing surveys and providing feedback, and carrying out tenant inspections or mystery shopper calls. Find out more here.
If you don't want to join ChAT you can still give us your views by sending us your comments and through our social media accounts.
How you get involved is up to you - we will offer as many opportunities as possible for you to work with us, and can offer training and other sources of help and support.
Our Customer Involvement Agreement explains how tenants can influence and shape the delivery of the services they receive from the housing service and how they can be involved in decisions that affect homes and neighbourhoods.
We also share updates on the work of our housing service through our council newsletter 'Your Chesterfield'.
Four Million Homes campaign
As well as providing you with opportunities to get involved and help shape our services, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has launched a new training scheme for housing tenants – designed to help give you impartial advice, make you feel empowered and have the skills and confidence to get involved with all things housing.
From free advice on issues such as addressing damp and mould to webinars on how to complain about anti-social behaviour, the training programme will share information and offer tips and advice so you know your rights and how to share your views.
Find out more on how you might be able to get involved by visiting www.fourmillionhomes.org.
