Remembrance Day 2020

Every year the council hosts an event outside the Town Hall for Remembrance Day; however due to the restrictions on public gatherings that are currently in place, the event will take a different format this November.

On Sunday 8 November 2020 at 2.30pm, the council will be holding an outdoor Service of Remembrance at the Rose Hill War Memorial for invited guests only, which will be conducted by Reverend Patrick Coleman from the Parish Church. This will be followed by a short wreath laying ceremony for invited guests to take part in. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, members of the public will not be able to attend this year’s event. We would respectfully ask that you do not turn up at the War Memorial on Sunday afternoon.

Unlike previous years, this year’s event will not be open to the general public. The council encourages members of the general public to stay safe at home this year, and instead join us virtually via a livestream that will be available on the day.

Members of the public were able to watch the proceedings from their own homes via a livestream on our Facebook page. You can watch the video below.
