Although Chesterfield Museum is closed due to the fantastic Stephenson Memorial Hall refurbishment, we still plan to offer a programme of events and activities just in alternative ways and at different locations.
We aim to build on the success of last summers ’Museum on the Move’ programme and expand this to include a variety of pop-up events.
Our off site store tours will continue to give visitors an opportunity to see exactly how we care for the objects in our collections.
We hope to be able to provide some craft and science activities during the children’s holidays but in the meantime we can provide a range of arts and crafts, quizzes and activities which children can do at home.
During lockdown, our events programme went virtual with a series of online videos featuring reenactors from different periods. This proved very popular and is something we will continue to develop whilst we are closed. Don’t worry if you missed any of these videos as most are still available on our website (see the list on the left hand side) and can also be viewed through our YouTube page.
So remember... whilst the museum building may be closed, Chesterfield Museum is still very active. Keep up to date with all the latest news and events on our Facebook page and if you have any ideas for future events or activities please contact us as we would love to hear from you.

Don’t forget that we also organise events at our other museum Revolution House.
