It’s an exciting time to join Chesterfield Borough Council as an apprentice!

The organisation is undertaking a digital transformation which will change the way the Council operates internally and communicates with its customers and we need forward thinking individuals to join us on our ambitious journey.

We are looking for a friendly, outgoing person to take an apprenticeship at Chesterfield's busy, award winning Visitor Information Centre.

You will welcome visitors to Chesterfield, provide them with information and services to enhance the quality of their visit, and be an ambassador for the town, using computer systems to access information and process bookings. The Information Centre is the primary Theatres Box Office.

 You will also sell tickets and services for the Pomegranate and the Winding Wheel Theatres. Saturday and occasional Bank Holiday working will be required. You will be able to demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude with an eagerness to learn; in return, you’ll have the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification, learn and develop new skills, take part in exciting projects and create new working relationships.

You will be a strong team player and enjoy working with others to achieve shared goals; while your excellent attention to detail enables you to complete tasks accurately and to a high standard

What are we looking for in our Apprentice?

  • GCSE grade 4 (GCSE C) or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) with excellent keyboard skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A commitment to be passionate and enthusiastic in all that you do!

 Applicants must not be currently in receipt of / attending any other funded training or signed to another apprenticeship at the start date of the apprenticeship.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Chesterfield Borough Council’s Streetscene team. We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to inspire, motivate and lead teams to provide a high-quality grounds maintenance and street cleansing service.

Team Leaders are hands on in managing a team to carry out grounds maintenance, street cleansing, playground inspections, drainage, groundwork and specialist projects, including fencing and hard and soft landscaping.

Alongside the day-to-day management of their team, the Team Leader will be dealing with enquiries from the public and councillors, actively seeking commercial opportunities and improving the efficiency of the service.

We are seeking applications from individuals who have good IT skills and excellent planning, prioritising and communication skills.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to motivate, use initiative and must be a proactive problem solver.

These roles will require occasional weekend and bank holiday working by rota as part of a Monday to Sunday working week.

There is also the possibility of working outside normal working hours on call. This is a great opportunity to play a key part in the services we provide.

We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated individual who can work within a team of Housing professionals to be responsible for the quality control inspection of construction and improvements contracts delivering electrical works within the Housing Capital Investment Programme.

You will be required to monitor and enforce all Health and Safety on complex construction activities and provide a high level of technical advice and support on electrical projects.

You must have a recognised qualification in domestic electrical installations and equipment and hold a current ACS accreditation.

A good knowledge of current housing issues, legislation and best practice are essential to this role along with excellent interpersonal skills.

We are looking for an experienced barista/catering assistant to help strengthen our existing catering team over a number of sites within the department.
