Job description and person specification

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Architectural Technologist who will take a lead role in designing,  developing and managing housing and ‘non housing’ construction and refurbishment programmes.

You will play a key role in the Business Planning & Strategy design team, acting as a support in our journey to completing our long term visions and objectives including significant development of new build housing within the Borough.

Based within the Council’s Housing Service, you will have responsibility for the surveying of properties and land, preparing plans, specifications and drawings and overseeing work on site in accordance with the specifications and contract.

You will ideally be a member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and have an equivalent Architectural qualification and be experienced in the use of Auto CAD.

With excellent customer care and communication skills you will have experience of managing a mixed workload, the ability to manage competing priorities, produce significant outcomes to performance targets and contribute to change management and business improvement initiatives

We are looking to recruit 3 Receptionists to join our Support Services team working at both of our Leisure Centres on a variable hour basis.

You must be able to provide a comprehensive and excellent customer service in a busy environment, you will need to be available to work at short notice and be available to work shifts throughout the day, evening & weekend covering for staff absence & annual leave across the two leisure sites.

Bank Holiday working is an essential feature of the post.

You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with the ability to assist our customers in a friendly and professional manner.

Key duties include:

  • Issuing admission tickets
  • Operating advance booking systems
  • Membership enquiries/Personal enquiries
  • Promoting the image of the centres
  • Customer service and working with the public

You must have the ability to operate IT systems along with handling transactions promptly and accurately, including the balancing large sums of money.

Knowledge of working in the Leisure industry is desirable.

We are looking for a Sales Assistant to join our busy Chesterfield Venues team.

Duties include selling tickets (in person or by telephone) for events at the Pomegranate Theatre / Winding Wheel / Assembly Rooms / Hasland Village Hall and in the Visitor Information Centre using the computerised box office system.

The job involves working part-time rota shifts to suit requirements of the operation, including evening, weekend and Bank Holidays, as well as covering for sickness and holiday leave. 

Shifts will usually be 2-3 hours and are around our event start times which can vary. At the Pomegranate Theatre shifts currently start 1.5 hours before an event start time and finish 30 minutes after the event start time.

This is the same for the Winding Wheel during the daytime, but evening shifts at the Winding Wheel currently start at 5.45pm and finish 30 minutes after the show start time.

Although flexibility is required, it is currently unlikely that a Sales Assistant would be required to work past 8.15pm.

However, due to the broad range of events on offer and the introduction of new products, the exact start and finish times may change.

You will have good keyboard and clear concise verbal communication skills along with accurate numeracy skills.

The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, and you must be punctual and reliable and have had experience of working with the public, including cash handling experience.
