Job description and person specification

This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and resilient individual to join an expanding team to ensure that the Council meets its statutory duties towards homeless applicants.

You will make decisions on homelessness and housing need in accordance with relevant legislation, and policies and procedures operating within the department. You will be the main point of contact for homelessness applicants and will manage a caseload, actively working towards preventing and relieving homelessness and offering housing advice to customers requesting assistance.

With experience of working in a similar role, you must have a working knowledge of housing, homelessness and related legislation eg Housing Act 1996, as amended, and an understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Good written and oral communication and negotiation skills are needed together with being proficient in IT.

The successful candidate should have a relevant Housing qualification or equivalent, and previous practical experience of working in a busy housing or welfare benefits organisation or environment with experience of interviewing clients, debt management and financial inclusion issues.

A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle is an essential requirement.

Assessment will be through application form, interview and a short written test if invited to interview week commencing 10th February 2020.

Job description and person specification

Chesterfield Borough Council are recruiting a Mechanical Services Engineer to work within the Kier Facilities Maintenance team in Chesterfield.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of mechanical services and surveying functions relating to Chesterfield Borough Council owned buildings (operational properties, sports centres, venues, corporate, industrial and commercial premises and offices) in particular: heating, gas air-conditioning, ventilation, hot and cold-water services and fire sprinkler systems.

This is a diverse role in a busy team and the applicant will need to have experience of managing contractors, organising maintenance schedules and following up actions arising from routine inspections.

They will need to be a self-starter, organising their own workload and to have good communication skills with customers and within the team.

Applications are invited from individuals to join a team providing an Internal Audit service to Bolsover, Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Councils.

The post will be based predominantly within Bolsover District Council team which is based at Mill lane, Wingerworth but may be required to work at any of the Consortium’s Partner locations.

You must have good inter-personal skills and must be able to communicate assertively with all levels of personnel.  The successful candidate will have strong report writing skills, the ability to challenge, investigate, test and assess risks within the organisation.

A minimum of two - three years’ experience working in a financial environment is essential. Previous experience of working in internal audit and progress towards an accounting qualification are desirable e.g. AAT or otherwise.

We are looking for Stage Crew for the Pomegranate Theatre and Winding Wheel Theatre.

The Venues operate 7 days a week including some Bank Holidays; consequently, a flexible approach to working hours is essential.

Exact shifts will relate to the performance or event starting times and there are seasonal changes.

Duties will include: assisting with the setting up and operating of performances.

An opportunity has arisen to work in a dedicated Bereavement Services Team based at Chesterfield and District Crematorium.

We are looking for a hardworking and caring individual whose main duties will be gardening and grounds maintenance within the grounds of the Crematorium and four Borough Council Cemeteries.

The successful candidate will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 1st April to 30th September each year.

The post is permanent and up to 6 months work is guaranteed each year.
