We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Neighbourhoods team in the post of Neighbourhood Assistant.

You will be providing administrative support for a busy team in Housing Services that manages Council estates and deals with anti-social behaviour.

You will also handle various problems with tenancies. Dealing with phone calls from tenants, updating paper and electronic records and inputting information on to data bases.

You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a good experience in team working and have knowledge of IT systems.

An opportunity has arisen to work at Chesterfield's busy, award winning Visitor Information Centre; the Information Centre is the primary Box Office for the Theatres.

You will welcome visitors to Chesterfield, provide them with information and services to enhance the quality of their visit, and be an ambassador for the town.

You will be using computer systems to access information and process bookings and will have excellent customer service skills as well good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office

Your duties will involve you selling tickets and services for the Pomegranate Theatre and the Winding Wheel.

The post will be worked on rota basis working 22 hours per week and will include Saturday and Bank Holiday working and as such will require you to be flexible to provide holiday cover for staff.

The Visitor Information Centre is open 9.30am to 6pm and working hours are between 9am and 6pm.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and resilient individual to join an expanding team to ensure that the Council meets its statutory duties towards homeless applicants.

You will make decisions on homelessness and housing need in accordance with relevant legislation, and policies and procedures operating within the department.

You will be the main point of contact for homelessness applicants and will manage a caseload, actively working towards preventing and relieving homelessness and offering housing advice to customers requesting assistance.

With considerable experience of working in a similar role, you must have a working knowledge of housing, homelessness and related legislation e.g. Housing Act 1996, as amended, and an understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Good written and oral communication and negotiation skills are needed together with being proficient in IT.

The successful candidate should have a relevant Housing qualification or equivalent, and previous practical experience of working in a busy housing or welfare benefits organisation or environment with experience of interviewing clients, debt management and financial inclusion issues.

This is a four day per week post. There may be some flexibility on the working days, to be agreed within the team.

A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle is an essential requirement.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and resilient individual to join an established small team of Housing Options Officers.

Key duties include carrying out property inspections following receipt of a tenancy termination or to progress a mutual exchange request. Another major aspect of the role will be visiting applicants to assess their current property with regards to suitability having regard to health issues.

The Options Officer will assess the need and benefit of installing minor adaptations or whether to refer to Social Care and will take ownership of cases discussed at the monthly Derbyshire Adaptations Partnership panel meeting. You will have practical experience of working in a customer facing role.

Whilst having your own caseload you will be working in a small team; being able to work as part of a small team is essential.

You will be able to manage your own caseload by prioritising and planning your workload. It is essential that you are able to manage customers’ expectations in an honest and diplomatic manner. Good written and oral communication and negotiation skills are needed together with being proficient in IT.

The post is 18.5 hours per week; working 3 days one week and 2 days the next.
