Parks and green spaces

Chesterfield has a large number of well-maintained parks, open spaces and playgrounds.

We recognise that our parks and open spaces are an essential part of urban life, providing opportunities for relaxation, education, exercise, social gatherings, sport and a range of cultural activities. We also have two free outdoor gyms at Eastwood Park and Holmebrook Valley Park, both of which have a range of outdoor gym equipment.

The ecological and environmental value of green space is also important, and we know that green spaces need to be at the heart of the regeneration of Chesterfield and our local communities.

Chesterfield Parks and Open Spaces Strategy 2015–2024

The original strategy for Chesterfield's parks and open spaces was launched by the council in 2003. The new strategy has now been adopted and is based on research of best practice and consultation with partners.
