Individuals have the right to access the personal data we hold about them, along with additional relevant information.
This is known as a Subject Access Request (SAR), and is in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
How to submit a Subject Access Request
When you submit your request you should describe the information you are seeking, and provide enough information to identify yourself.
Before we can process your request we may ask for proof of your identity and address - such as photographic identification, and a recent utility bill or birth certificate.

We recommend that you send your Subject Access Request online through your My Chesterfield account, so that you can track its progress.

What we will do
We will respond within one month of receiving your request and verifying your identity.
In some circumstances, the act allows us to extend this timeframe or withhold certain information where an exemption applies. If this is the case, we will explain the reasons for our decision.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can request an internal review. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or seek to enforce your rights through the courts.
Subject Access Requests are normally free of charge.
Requests for information for law enforcement or legal proceedings
Requests for personal data for the purposes of law enforcement, crime prevention, regulatory investigations, safeguarding, or legal proceedings are handled separately from Subject Access Requests.
Any such request must be supported by an appropriate lawful basis and, where applicable, relevant supporting documentation. Each request will be assessed in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and any other applicable legislation.
