If the crew didn't empty your bin or waste sacks they will let us know and tell us why.
You will need to wait until your next scheduled collection day - if you have too much waste you can take it to the Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Here are some of the reasons why your bin might not have been emptied, and what you need to do to make sure it gets emptied next time.
Your bin should be put at the edge of your property where it meets the pavement or road (or a previously agreed point) by 7am on collection day. If you use waste sacks instead of wheelie bins they should be left in the agreed place for your property.
Please make sure your bin or bag is left in the correct place on your next collection day.
If you're not sure where your collection point is please contact us for advice.

Our crew won't empty your wheelie bin if is too heavy to move safely. Sacks that are overfull are likely to tear and spill their contents in the street.
Please remove some of the waste so that your bin or waste sack can be emptied next time.

Waste should be put out for collection inside your bin or waste sack.
The crew will take extra recycling on blue bin day if it is:
- flattened and bundled cardboard
- loose recycling in a clear bag (not black sack) or a plastic box (glass must be kept separate)
- a small electrical item left on top of your blue bin
If the crew didn't take your extra recycling please report it to us.
Other types of waste won't be taken and should be put into the correct bin ready for your next collection. You can take extra general or garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, or book a bulky waste collection to have excess household waste collected from your home.
Our crews will need access to your bins if you have an assisted collection service, or if your bins are stored in a communal area (such as a block of flats or gated community).
Dog out
If the crew take your bin out for you they won't go onto your property if your dog is loose. Please make sure your dog is not out next time your bin is due to be emptied.

Sometimes your rubbish can get stuck in your bin, for example:

If you put the wrong items in your bin or recycling caddy the crew won't empty it.
You will need to take the items out and put them in the correct place.
For example:
- general waste, black bags, nappies, polystyrene - put these in your black bin with your other general waste
- electrical items - small electrical items can be put out on top of your blue bin on recycling day
- food - dispose of food waste in your green bin, please don't put recycling in your blue bin if it still contains food
- glass - make sure glass items (such as jars and bottles) go in your black recycling caddy and not in your bin
- hard plastics and metal items - please take these to the Household Waste Recycling Centre to save them going to landfill, or as a last resort put them in your black bin
- paper and card - recycle paper and card in your blue bin
- plastic or wrappings - some supermarkets accept plastic bags, film and wrappings, find out one near you here, anything else can go in your black bin
- textiles - clean clothing, bedding and other textiles can be donated to charity or put in a local textile recycling bank
Remember - only clean glass jars and bottles should go in your black recycling caddy.
