If you would like an accessible version of a job description, then please contact the Human Resources team.

Candidates must possess the necessary right to work authorisation to enable them to work for Chesterfield Borough Council. Regrettably, we are unable to provide sponsorship or assume sponsorship of an employment visa at this juncture.

The sports and leisure team at Chesterfield Borough Council is looking to recruit 1 full time member of staff to work at our modern leisure facilities.

We require motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals to work flexibly as part of our team carrying out general leisure attendant duties.

The duties involve ensuring customer safety at all times, lifeguarding, communicating effectively with members of the public and other staff, undertaking cleaning duties and setting up and dismantling sports equipment in a safe environment. Experience working with the public and customer care is desirable, and ideally you will have experience working in swimming pools.

The successful candidate will also be trained to undertake key holder responsibilities, ensuring continuity of service during periods of annual leave and sickness. When covering these additional responsibilities, the postholder will be paid at Grade 6 (£15.56 per hour) for the duration of that period.

Successful candidates must hold a current Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS) Lifeguarding qualification for this post. Further qualifications are desirable including pool plant operator and a current first aid at work certificate but not essential as we are looking for the right quality of individual.

This role requires regular unsocial hours working, including availability at evenings and weekends, involving a variety of services being provided at all council sports and leisure venues within the borough. Candidates must be able to travel as work will be available over both our sites at Staveley Healthy Living Centre and Queens Park Sports Centre.

The successful candidate will be subject to a disclosure carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

For an informal discussion on any aspect of the post, please email Dean Mayfield at dean.mayfield@chesterfield.gov.uk to set up a call, or for further information on this post, please view the job description and person specification attached.
