Candidates announced for Staveley by-elections

There will be two by-elections in Staveley on Thursday 7 May, nominations have now closed with candidates announced for both elections.

One of the elections will be for two seats representing Staveley North ward, on Chesterfield Borough Council.

There will also be a by-election for one seat representing Woodthorpe ward on Staveley Town Council.

Both by-elections will be held on 7 May, with polls opening at 7am and closing at 10pm. Registered voters have been sent poll cards.

Candidates standing to represent Staveley North ward, on Chesterfield Borough Council, include:

The deadline to register to vote in the by-elections is midnight on Monday 20 April.

The deadline to register for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April.

Voters will be required to show photo ID before they cast their vote – anyone without valid ID will be turned away and asked to return with ID.

There are lots of different types of ID that can be accepted and voters without valid ID can request a free Voter Authority Certificate to cast their vote. You can find out more about acceptable forms of ID and the Voter Authority Certificate on our voter photo identification page.

The deadline to register for a proxy or a voter authority certificate is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April.
