Chesterfield’s former Mayor and Mayoress have presented a cheque to their chosen charities to mark fundraising efforts during their year in office.
Councillor Barry Dyke and Marie Dyke presented a cheque for £10,347 to Poolsbrook Social Welfare Centre and Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust Charity which was raised during their term as Mayor and Mayoress in 2025/26.
Councillor Barry Dyke said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to present this cheque to two fantastic local charities that make a big difference in our community. This was only possible because of the generous donations by local people, thank you to everyone who has supported the Mayor’s Appeal.”
The Mayor’s Appeal is an annual charity drive led by the Mayor of Chesterfield, to raise funds for charities of their choosing.
The money was raised through community events including a charity abseil at the Town Hall.
Poolsbrook Social Welfare Scheme support a wide variety of social events for all ages. This includes various youth groups and multiple sporting and entertainment events. They dedicate their time to support and provide the best for their community.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust Charity is dedicated to going the extra mile for patients, visitors, and colleagues. They provide funding to support the whole Trust and go beyond what basic NHS funding can provide. The funds raised through the Mayor’s Appeal will be used to enhance facilities, including those within the stroke unit, ensuring they continue delivering exceptional care.
