Families in Chesterfield can get into the festive spirit early as bookings to meet Santa in his brand-new town centre home are now open.
Santa will be based in his own cosy cabin Grotto in New Square from 27 November until Christmas Eve which will provide a new magical Christmas experience for families.
Due to the popularity of Santa’s Grotto, visitors are encouraged to book tickets early to secure their preferred date and time slot. Up to four children can be included on one booking.

Children visiting the grotto will receive a gift suitable for their age and a wishing coin. A professional photo with Santa will be available to purchase, although families are welcome to take their own photographs too.
The new grotto is also dog friendly, meaning four-legged family members can join in the festive fun too. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to meet Santa and pose for photos alongside their owners.
Relaxed SEN sessions will also take place on 29 November, 6 December and 13 December between 10am and 10.30am. These sessions will be highlighted in gold on the booking website.
Councillor Kate Sarvent, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for town centres and visitor economy, said: “A visit to Santa’s Grotto is always a highlight of Christmas for many families in Chesterfield, so we’re looking forward to welcoming Santa into his brand-new home in New Square over the festive season.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy some festive time together, and with the grotto being dog friendly, even four-legged members of the family can join in the fun and find out whether they’ve made Santa’s nice list this year.
“Following the refurbishment of New Square and Market Square, we’re really looking forward to seeing families get into the festive spirit and create new memories right in the heart of Chesterfield. These spaces have been designed to create a place where people can come together and enjoy a wide range of events and activities throughout the year, so it’s wonderful to see them being used in exactly that way this Christmas, through Santa’s Grotto and the other festive activities we’ve got planned.
“We expect Santa to be really busy whilst he is here in Chesterfield, so I’d encourage families to make sure they get a slot booked as soon as possible.”
