Due to the Easter Bank Holiday, there will be some changes to council services from Friday 3 to Monday 6 April, please see the latest updates below.
Bin collections
Bins due to be collected on Easter Monday 6 April will be collected on Saturday 4 April. Please make sure your bin is ready for collection by 7am as crews may be collecting at different times. .
There are no changes to collections due on Good Friday 3 April.
Food waste collections
Weekly food waste collections begin on 7 April 2026 - we will collect your food waste every week on the same day as your normal waste and recycling. All households will receive a food caddy soon if one hasn’t already arrived. Find out more about food waste recycling.
Please note: If your bins are usually emptied on a Monday, your first food waste collection will be on Monday 13 April because of the bank holiday.
Car parks
New Beetwell Street car park will be open from 7am to 4.30pm on Good Friday 3 April and Easter Monday 6 April, but will be closed on Easter Sunday 5 April.
All other council owned car parks will be open as usual over the bank holiday period.
Chesterfield and District Crematorium

Open 10am to 4pm on Good Friday 4 April through to Easter Monday 6 April.

Customer services
The Town Hall Reception, Customer Services Centre and Contact Centre will be closed Good Friday 3 April and Easter Monday 6 April. You can still report issues like missed bins or littering online using My Chesterfield or see our I want to report page. For out of hours emergencies please contact 01246 345041.
We will reopen as usual on Tuesday 7 April – you can find our usual opening times here.
Emergency council house repairs
An out-of-hours emergency repairs service will be available on Good Friday 3 April and Easter Monday 6 April. If you are a council tenant and need an emergency repair for something like a burst pipe, please call 01246 345041.
Please note this is for emergency repairs only and the operator will not be able to transfer calls or handle other enquiries during this time.
A normal repairs service will resume from Tuesday 7 April.
Homelessness help
If you are homeless and have nowhere safe to stay, please call the P3 Out of Hours Service on 0808 1692 333.
Market and Market Hall
The outdoor market and Market Hall will be open as normal on Good Friday 3 April, but will be closed on Easter Sunday 5 April and Easter Monday 6 April.
Pavements Shopping Centre
The centre will be open from 9am to 4pm on Good Friday 3 April and Easter Monday 6 April, but will be closed on Easter Sunday 5 April.
Sport and leisure centres
Queen’s Park Sports Centre
On Good Friday 3 and Easter Monday 6 April 2026:
- the gym will close at 7pm
- the last booking for badminton and squash is 6pm
- the pool will close at:
- Friday - main pool 4.15pm / small pool 3.30pm
- Monday - main pool 2.45pm / small pool 2pm
- the last fitness classes will be:
- Friday - Total Body Workout at 6pm
- Monday - Indoor Cycling at 5.30pm
- swimming lessons will take place as normal except for:
- Friday - Stage 4 at 6.30pm and Stage 5 at 6.45pm
- Monday - National Lifesaving Academy at 6.15pm, and Rookies 2 and Stage 5 at 6.30pm
The centre will be open as normal Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April.
Healthy Living Centre
On Good Friday 3 and Easter Monday 6 April 2026:
- the gym will close at 7pm
- the spa and play zone will close at 6pm
- the pool will close at:
- Friday - 6pm
- Monday - 3.45pm
- the last fitness classes will be:
- Friday - Yoga at 6pm
- Monday - Out Moving Cancer at 2.30pm
- swimming lessons will take place as normal
- children’s climbing clubs are cancelled on Monday 6 April
The centre will be open as normal Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April.

Box office
The box office will be closed from Good Friday 4 April through to Easter Monday 6 April.
Please pre-book tickets on the Chesterfield Theatres website where possible. Tickets can be booked online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can choose your own seat and tickets can be sent by email.
