Construction continues as steel works commence
Work to construct the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre continues to progress well despite the challenges presented by COVID -19 restrictions. Chesterfield Borough Council’s contractor, Robert Woodhead Ltd (RWL) have successfully completed works to the roof, whilst the exterior envelope has seen the installation of the structural framing system, CP board cladding. Completion of the glazing installation will soon follow and the external brickwork will be completed over eight weeks through January and February 2021. RWL have also scored highly in a recent considerate contractor scheme assessment of the site, achieving either an ‘exceptional’ or ‘excellent’ rating against every category of the assessment.
Decorative information panels have also now been installed to the hoardings.

To mark this exciting new phase we are pleased to launch a walkthrough video of the building to give potential occupiers a flavour of what the building will have to offer.
The walkthrough has been created by local architectural firm, Whittam Cox Architects who have also designed the building itself.

High quality office suites
The new Enterprise Centre will include 32 high quality office suites in a range of sizes (26 to 120 square metres) and will offer a multitude of features that would appeal to any company looking to become established in Chesterfield.
The building has sustainability principles at its heart, having been designed to minimise its impact on the environment and achieve considerable efficiencies in energy use. It will have 24/7 access, an IT fibre connection which offers maximum speed multi bandwidth capability, Wi-Fi and air conditioning throughout. Each office will benefit from access-controlled doors and CCTV coverage will be available in internal communal areas and external area. Within the centre itself, there will be a shared reception and lobby area, two meeting rooms, a break-out area and kitchenettes, bicycle storage, shower and changing facilities, lift access and individually metered power supplies.
Easy letting terms
These office spaces will be offered on easy in and out letting terms and tenants at the Enterprise Centre will also benefit from access to a range of other council services and venues, including business support and corporate rates for leisure passes, parking permits and conferencing facilities.
With its town centre location, the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre is easily accessible by car, train, bus and cycle users. It’s situated close to all major bus routes and Chesterfield Train Station – which has been designated as a HS2 station reducing travel times to London to 73 minutes.
The Enterprise Centre will appeal to companies operating in many business sectors but may be of particular interest to those involved in professional and financial services, innovation and communication technology.
Building on success
The project builds on the success of the council’s Dunston and Tapton Innovation Centres which for many years have offered excellent support and accommodation to innovative and growing businesses.
All three centres will be marketed under the new brand name of Enterprise Chesterfield. New tenants will be joining a network of 90 companies who currently enjoy the benefits of the serviced office accommodation the council has to offer. The Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre project has benefited from grant funding support from the Sheffield City Region Investment Fund.
