Chesterfield Borough Council's woodland estate extends to around 300 acres. This consists of ancient, semi-natural woodland, broadleaf and coniferous plantations.

The council's woods are managed in line with the UK Forestry Standard for a variety of objectives, including wildlife conservation, recreation, landscape improvement and small-scale timber production.
