This is an exciting time to join Chesterfield Borough Council as we look to expand our Environmental Services Team. We are currently seeking a Sweeper Driver to help maintain the cleanliness, safety and overall appearance of our town.

About the Role

As a Sweeper Driver, you will:

  • Operate mechanical road sweepers on public footpaths and highways
  • Help maintain high standards of cleanliness across the borough
  • Play a proactive role in supporting the development, commercialisation and reputation of the service
  • Contribute directly to creating a cleaner, safer and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors

This is a hands‑on role where you will make a visible difference every day.

Working Hours

Flexibility is essential, as weekend and bank holiday working is required on a rota basis.
Your normal working hours will follow a rotating shift pattern:

  • Morning shift: 4:00am – 12:00pm
  • Afternoon shift: 12:00pm – 8:00pm

  • A flexible and reliable individual able to meet the needs of the service
  • A valid and appropriate driving licence
  • A valid CPC, or willingness to obtain one
