About the role:

This is a unique opportunity to study for a Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship while earning a wage and gaining practical skills as a licensing assistant. You will work as a member of the licensing team at the council alongside studying with Chesterfield College.

This is a work-based apprenticeship with no college attendance needed although you will be required to attend monthly online teams’ sessions and 1-2-1 support will be available to develop your skills. You will work within the licensing team supporting all the licensing team functions. Building on the knowledge of the apprenticeship, you will develop the practical skills of a licensing assistant, while learning from and supporting experienced professionals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating responses and issuing various licenses within tight deadlines. You will also deal with enquiries and complaints from various organisations, as well as work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including emergency services, various internal departments, outside agencies, Members and the public. You will have to be able to deal with potentially stressful and confrontational situations.

You will need to have the following:

  •  Level 2 english and maths (or working towards as the exam can be taken whilst on the programme)
  • be willing and eager to learn
  • work well within a team
  • IT literate

What’s in it for me?

As part of the apprenticeship package, any tuition fees are fully funded and you will also earn a wage while you study, as well as receive support with learning materials. In exchange for your expertise, experience and enthusiasm, we will offer support in continuing your personal and career development, in addition to providing a wide range of employment linked benefits like access to the Local Government pension scheme.

If you have completed another apprenticeship or qualification, it must be at a lower level or in a completely different subject area to the apprenticeship you are applying for. If you are successful in your application, you must not be in receipt of or attending any other funded training or signed to another apprenticeship. It will be a condition of any employment offer that you are accepted onto the apprenticeship programme with Chesterfield College.  Support will be provided to liaise with the college for the application.
