Chesterfield Borough Council is looking to recruit a proactive and organised Fleet and Facilities Officer to support the management of our vehicle fleet and depot facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Housing Property Services and play a key role in ensuring our vehicles, depot and associated facilities are safe, compliant, well-maintained and available to support essential frontline services across the Council. The role supports the Fleet and Facilities Manager and will work closely with Council employees, managers, contractors and suppliers to help maintain high standards of fleet and facilities management.

About the role

As Fleet and Facilities Officer, you will:

  • support the management of the Council's fleet of vehicles and associated equipment;
  • coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, MOTs and statutory inspections;
  • carry out vehicle inspections and monitor fleet compliance;
  • support accident and incident investigations and maintain fleet records;
  • monitor driver checks and vehicle safety requirements;
  • liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to minimise vehicle downtime;
  • support depot maintenance activities and facilities management arrangements;
  • assist with procurement and ordering processes;
  • maintain accurate records, databases and reporting information; and
  • contribute to the safe and efficient operation of Housing Property Services.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • experience of working in a fleet, transport, facilities or operational support environment;
  • experience coordinating maintenance, servicing or inspection programmes;
  • strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities;
  • experience maintaining accurate records and databases;
  • excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
  • an understanding of vehicle maintenance and statutory compliance requirements;
  • confident IT skills, including spreadsheets and reporting systems; and
  • a full driving licence.

Experience of working with contractors and suppliers, monitoring compliance requirements and supporting operational services would be advantageous. Knowledge of fleet management systems, telematics, accident investigation or local authority services would be welcomed but is not essential.

Why join us?

At Chesterfield Borough Council, we are committed to delivering excellent services to our communities. In return, we offer:

  • Local Government Pension Scheme membership;
  • generous annual leave entitlement;
  • flexible working arrangements where service needs allow;
  • access to a range of wellbeing initiatives and support services;
  • learning and development opportunities; and
  • the opportunity to contribute to a modern, customer-focused Housing Property Service.
